right in the middle

pure nature
Nature as the measure of all things. Brandberg - a holiday paradise for the best weeks of the year.
A holiday on the sunny slope means lots of peace, relaxation and rest for the whole family. Our guests especially appreciate the good, clear mountain air at 1,100 m above sea level. A starting point for wonderful hikes in well-kept, untouched nature. Enquire quickly now or book free rooms for the summer season online right away. By car or bus you can reach the shopping and entertainment centre Mayrhofen in just a few minutes. Here everything is provided so you can enjoy a varied day with the family, or simply go shopping.
Alpine winter
In several large ski regions, 530 kilometres of slopes and 180 state-of-the-art mountain railways & lifts await you, bringing you quickly and comfortably from 580 metres up to 3,250 m above sea level. In a few minutes by car you can reach the most beautiful ski areas of our valley. The largest ski area in the Zillertal: Ski-Zillertal 3000 in Mayrhofen, the Zillertal Arena in Zell and Gerlos and the Hintertux Glacier. The sport bus takes you FREE to Mayrhofen and to the Horbergbahn in Schwendau; the stop is directly at the house.
in the Alps
The entire Ziller valley and the Zillergründl reservoir make every angler's heart beat faster.
Our hotel guests have the opportunity to pursue their hobby at one of the most beautiful fishing waters in the Zillertal. If you would like to fish, we look forward to your enquiry, as only a limited number of fishing permits are available.
It is mainly fish from the salmonid family that prefer to live in fresh mountain water: brown trout, lake char, brook char, rainbow trout.
For all the fish species mentioned: they remain true to their location for life. It can also be observed: the higher the altitude, the slower the fish grows. The constant movement in the clear mountain water not only corresponds to the ideal way of life for trout and co., but it also means that the flesh quality of the fish here reaches an incomparable top level.
bring them all along
Children are particularly welcome guests in our inn. A large playground in the middle of the greenery awaits your little ones. Surrounded by fruit trees and fields, away from any road - a safe playground for a real adventure holiday. At the entrance to the village there is a small sports field for our young “football players”. This is popular with both guests and locals alike. Our Haflinger horses are especially popular with our young guests. They then spend the summer from June to the beginning of September on the high alpine pasture.
In the house there are activities not only for bad weather. A round of table tennis or a small table football tournament, no one can resist that. For our very young guests we offer a well-equipped children's playroom.
With us almost all dishes are offered as children's portions and many dishes are prepared on request - as far as possible!
Play & Fun
in the mountains
The Ahorn gourmet mountain is worth a trip for the whole family. Children have the opportunity at Ahorn to get to know nature playfully. The family mountain has a lot to offer: Adlerbühne Ahorn, adventures on the Ahorn sensory trail, Ahorn lake, Ahorn stream, gourmet circular trail.
In addition to numerous hiking options, the Penken attracts children's attention: different mountain scooters for rapid descents, running on water with the Funballz, stroller-friendly panoramic circular trail.
Fun and action are guaranteed here. You can expect: Fichtenschloss with Fichtensee, Almflieger Gerlosstein, Arena Coaster Zell am Ziller.
Hintertux Glacier: snow-sure 365 days a year.

fresh produce and kids' fun
A small farm is attached to our business with dairy cows, young cattle and Haflinger horses. The Haflingers are particularly popular with our youngest guests. The mares and foals spend the summer from June to the beginning of September on the high alpine pasture at over 2,000 m above sea level.
we look forward to seeing you

The Thanner Gasthof has been run by the Dornauer family since 1870 and stands for lived Tyrolean hospitality – personal, family-run and with heart.
In our kitchen we maintain traditional, hearty home cooking as well as Austrian specialties and vegetarian and international dishes – regional, seasonal and with products from our own farm and from local producers.
Surrounded by the unique nature of the Brandberg and the Zillertal, we want to offer our guests a place of relaxation and security. It is the personal, family atmosphere of our house that brings our guests back to us time and again.
Since 1870 the Thanner Gasthof has stood for lived hospitality in Brandberg near Mayrhofen in the Zillertal. To this day the house is run in the tradition of this long history by the Dornauer family.
This connection to our homeland, our guests and Tyrolean hospitality shapes the Thanner Gasthof to this day.
